Information

Name
Peter Mendygral
Background

I am a software engineer at Cray Inc., but I also work as a postdoc under the supervision of Tom Jones in the computational astrophysics group. My current research utilizes high resolution simulations of radio jets to investigate the observational consequences of their interactions with the ICM. By including relativistic electron transport in the simulation, we have calculated synthetic radio and x-ray observations of these jets. Knowing the details of the physics in our simulations, observed properties can be directly related with physical quantities. You can learn more about my work under Synthetic Observations and under our new MHD code WOMBAT.

My non-astronomical interests include playing drums, woodworking, hiking and playing with my beagle Lily.
